Hello there! My name is Kevin Kim and I’m a Mechanical Engineer with an MBA. I enjoy learning new things, solving problems, and working with others to create a better world.

I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Hawaii. I graduated from the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering degree in 2012. That same year, I moved up to Everett, WA to work as a Stress Engineer for The Boeing Company. I later left Boeing to pursue an MBA with a Finance concentration from the University of Portland. I graduated from my MBA program in 2015 and began working at Fisher Investments. I am now using both my engineering and finance background to automate processes, provide technology solutions, and improve workflow productivity.

Below you’ll find some personal projects that highlight the type of work that I enjoy doing on my own time. For a complete list of projects, see the dropdown in the upper right-hand corner of this page.

Samples of my work

The Cat Drawing Robot

I use Machine Learning to generate, stylize, name, and describe imaginary cats. Every cat is different. I then programmed a robotic arm to draw them. This project was done with python.

Hydroponics Builds

I have built 4 different hydroponic systems to date. I have experimented with with Nutrient Film Technique (NFT), Deep Water Cultures (DWC), Dutch Buckets, and Vertical Drips.

Upgraded Cat Feeder

I built a slow feeder puzzle attachment for an automatic cat food dispenser. I used CAD modeling and 3D printing to create a new dispenser spout.
